Drug and Alcohol Policy

Ensure your staff understand their obligation to be fit and capable of performing their roles, free from the influence of alcohol or illicit drugs. This is essential for maintaining a safe and healthy workplace for everyone.

The short answer

Drug and Alcohol Policy training is for everyone in scope in Australia and New Zealand and Global Best Practice. There is no single instrument behind it; it is treated as good practice. It runs online in about 20 to 30 minutes. Run it off the shelf as it is, or have Hungry Minds rebuild it around your own policies and scenarios.

Course details reviewed

About this course

Under occupational/work health safety laws, workers have a duty to be fit and well enough to perform their roles, not to be under the influence of drugs and alcohol, and not to use alcohol or illicit drugs whilst at work.

Every organisation should aim to maintain a safe and healthy workplace and to limit the costs of drug and alcohol use both on workers and the company as a whole.

What the course covers

  • Why do we have a drug and alcohol policy
  • Drug and alcohol impacts in the workplace
  • Speaking up
  • Speaking up about others

What people can do afterwards

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • understand the risks in the workplace from drug and alcohol abuse
  • understand their legal obligations
  • understand how to speak up when affected by drug or alcohol use in the workplace
  • be familiar with the consequences for non-compliance with the organisation’s Drug and Alcohol policy.
  • Comprehensive coverage of the impacts of alcohol and drugs in the workplace
  • Engaging and interactive animated modules for an optimal user experience
  • Rigorous end-of-module testing to ensure thorough understanding of the law

How it is delivered

  • Accelerated learning Allows learners who understand the topic to proceed quickly through the course in 20-30 minutes.

Two ways to run it

  • Your policies, your scenarios

We rebuild “Drug and Alcohol Policy” around how your organisation actually works, so the training changes behaviour instead of recording completions.

    Build a custom version
  • Ready to run as it is

Deploy the course off the shelf, with light branding if you want it. Delivered with our partner Safetrac, who will contact you directly.

    Deploy off the shelf

Either way, you can run it through our compliance platform or take it as a SCORM package for the LMS you already have.

What it costs

Off-the-shelf pricing starts at $4,000 a year for up to ten courses with your logo and colours applied, rising with how much you want changed. The tiers are the same across the catalogue, so they are set out once on the pricing page rather than repeated on all 101 courses.

If what you actually need is your own scenarios and your own policies rather than a reskin, that is a custom build, and it is the work Hungry Minds does.

Common questions
