Cultural Awareness
2 courses
Discrimination law sets the floor on how people are treated because of race, ethnicity or cultural background. Above that floor sits the practical work: staff who serve diverse communities, teams that include First Nations colleagues, and organisations with Reconciliation Action Plans that have to mean something beyond the document. Training here is about competence in real interactions, not a history lecture.
Which one do you need?
First Nations' Australians - Cultural Recognition covers Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and respectful engagement, including Acknowledgement of Country. Cultural Sensitivity is broader, for teams serving people from a wide range of backgrounds. Hungry Minds runs the First Nations course first for organisations with a Reconciliation Action Plan. If your obligation is anti-discrimination compliance rather than cultural capability, look at Racial Discrimination instead.

Common questions
Is cultural awareness training a legal requirement?
Generally no, though funding agreements, government contracts and Reconciliation Action Plan commitments often require it. It also supports your anti-discrimination obligations by reducing the conduct that leads to complaints.
What is the difference between the two courses?
First Nations' Australians - Cultural Recognition is specific to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and protocols. Cultural Sensitivity covers cultural difference broadly across a diverse workforce and customer base. They cover different ground and are not substitutes.
Does online training replace face-to-face cultural training?
For baseline awareness across a large workforce, online works and scales. For deeper capability, particularly for teams delivering services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, pair it with locally delivered, community-led training.

Your policies, your scenarios
We rebuild compliance training around how your organisation actually works, so the training changes behaviour instead of recording completions.
