Resilience and Mental Health

Ensure that your employees are equipped with the tools and knowledge to build mental resilience and effectively manage stress in the workplace.

The short answer

Resilience and Mental Health training is for everyone in scope, and it exists because of Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (NSW). It runs online in about 35 to 40 minutes, or 20 to 30 minutes in the accelerated version. Run it off the shelf as it is, or have Hungry Minds rebuild it around your own policies and scenarios.

Course details reviewed

About this course

Mental health risks to workers, such as occupational stress and depression, are on the increase and recognising and promoting mental health is an essential part of creating a safe and healthy workplace.

The health of workers is not just about physical health, but psychological health too. When managing mental health in the workplace, it is important to consider how staff are trained in recognising workplace hazards such as workplace bullying, work-related stress, work-related violence and work-related fatigue.

What the course covers

  • Recognising stress
  • Causes and signs of stress and mental strain
  • Mental health and mental illness
  • Signs of potential mental illness
  • Effective coping strategies and tips for promoting good mental health

What people can do afterwards

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • know how to recognise stress;
  • understand the signs of mental illness and depression;
  • know how to become more resilient to stress and mental health; and
  • understand effective strategies to reduce stress in their life.

How it is delivered

  • Structured learning Designed for learners who are new to the topic or want a comprehensive overview. The course explores the subject in detail and typically takes 35–40 minutes to complete.
  • Accelerated learning Allows learners who understand the topic to proceed quickly through the course in 20-30 minutes.

Two ways to run it

  • Your policies, your scenarios

We rebuild “Resilience and Mental Health” around how your organisation actually works, so the training changes behaviour instead of recording completions.

    Build a custom version
  • Ready to run as it is

Deploy the course off the shelf, with light branding if you want it. Delivered with our partner Safetrac, who will contact you directly.

    Deploy off the shelf

Either way, you can run it through our compliance platform or take it as a SCORM package for the LMS you already have.

What it costs

Off-the-shelf pricing starts at $4,000 a year for up to ten courses with your logo and colours applied, rising with how much you want changed. The tiers are the same across the catalogue, so they are set out once on the pricing page rather than repeated on all 101 courses.

If what you actually need is your own scenarios and your own policies rather than a reskin, that is a custom build, and it is the work Hungry Minds does.

Choosing an LMS

If you don’t currently have an LMS, we can help you select a platform that suits your organisation.

For smaller teams or organisations getting started, we typically recommend LearnWorlds for its ease of use and quick setup. For organisations requiring more advanced functionality and reporting, TalentLMS is a strong option.

We may receive a commission if you sign up to an LMS we recommend. It does not change what we recommend.

Common questions

Who needs Resilience and Mental Health training?

It is written for everyone in scope in Australia and Global Best Practice. The obligation comes from Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (NSW), so if that applies to your organisation, the people it covers need this training.

How long does the course take?

There are two versions. Structured learning takes about 35 to 40 minutes and suits people new to the topic. Accelerated learning takes 20 to 30 minutes for people who already know it and need a refresher.

What does the course cover?

Modules include: Recognising stress · Causes and signs of stress and mental strain · Mental health and mental illness · Signs of potential mental illness · Effective coping strategies and tips for promoting good mental health.

What will people be able to do afterwards?

By the end, participants can know how to recognise stress;; understand the signs of mental illness and depression;; know how to become more resilient to stress and mental health; and; understand effective strategies to reduce stress in their life.

How often does it need to be repeated?

There is no universal interval. Most Australian organisations run compliance training annually, with a shorter refresher at induction and after any policy change. Your own risk assessment and any regulator guidance set the actual cadence. We cover how to decide this properly.
